The Heracleonites also seem to accept the mythology of the ogdoads, but differently from Mark, Ptolemy, Valentinus, and the rest. Like Mark, however, they redeem their dying at the hour of death with oil of opobalsam and water, at the same time reciting certain invocations couched in Hebrew words over the one supposedly being redeemed.
Ἡρακλεωνῖται: καὶ οὗτοι τῇ τῶν ὀγδοάδων φαίνονται μυθολογίᾳ στοιχοῦντες, ἑτέρως παρὰ τὸν Μάρκον καὶ Πτολεμαῖον καὶ Οὐαλεντῖνον καὶ τοὺς ἄλλους. Ἀλλὰ καὶ πρὸς τῇ τελευτῇ τοὺς παρ' αὐτῶν τελευτῶντας ὁμοίως τῷ Μάρκῳ λυτροῦνται δι' ἐλαίου, ὀποβαλσάμου καὶ ὕδατος, ἐπικλήσεις τινὰς Ἑβραϊκαῖς λέξεσιν ἐπιλέγοντες τῇ κεφαλῇ τοῦ δῆθεν λυτρουμένου.
