Canon X.
And they who keep the commandment ought to keep it without any sordid covetousness, demanding neither recompense,124 ἰλασκομένου. μηνυτρα, the price of information. nor reward,125 The text gives, κἀκείνην δὲ ματαίως, etc. σῶστρα, the reward for bringing back a runaway slave. nor fee,126 κἂν πολλοῖς καταφρόνητος ᾖ; so the Cod. Bodleian. and the Cod. Medic. read. But others read πολύ = an object of great contempt. For καταφρόνητος the Cod. Medic. reads εὐκαταφρόνητος. εὕρετρα, the reward of discovery. nor anything else that bears the name of acknowledgment.
